ABSTRACT

The purpose in this chapter is to provide a set of simple numerical examples of the major types of model which will be dealt with in this book. Examples are given of employment and residence location models, a mode split model, and procedures for assigning trips to networks. Some readers will be familiar with this material and may wish simply to check the notational conventions established here and move on. Other readers will find this material a complete, albeit brief, introduction to the types of models that will be elaborated in later chapters.
