ABSTRACT

There are various different sub-contracts depending upon the location and type of contract being used. Under the JCT and/or FIDIC standard forms, for example, there are different types of subcontractors:

Nominated Subcontractor — here the Employer nominates, selects or approves (1) who will perform a subcontract or specialist trade role. The nominated subcontractor then enters into a subcontract with the main contractor and thus the employer retains some control over the selection of specialist contractor or supplier without necessarily becoming directly involved in detailed contractual arrangements with the specialist.
