ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts of the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book argues to reduce arbitrariness in addressing the question of governance by developing a theoretical framework guided by modern research on decision-making, and especially on diversity. It focuses upon the most tangible mechanisms projected by this framework-including the mechanisms of innovation, dissent, political knowledge, and responsiveness-and it explores these mechanism using the latest data and methods of comparative analysis. The book considers some of the limitations of diversity and dissent, pointing out that, while these are powerful factors that can help humanity address many problems they do not solve all of humanity's problems. This chapter concludes some important ideas that the diversity framework imparts about the nature of democracy, and perhaps about where people are headed as a species.
