ABSTRACT
Times are bad for the memory-aid. Mnemonics were used in ancient Greece, but today their enemies say that learning from them is like learning about sex from dirty jokes; certainly teachers today mark creative thought higher than mere factual knowledge. If one has a memory, then all well and good. But many of the replies to our advertisements inviting material came from people who need help, in or out of the classroom, and who told us so.
