ABSTRACT

This chapter explains about methods for changing views and also offers ideas for changing actions and interactions. Viktor Frankl taught us the value of focusing on future change. Interventions aimed at changing views can be used with most youth whereas those that target behavior and interactions are typically contingent on how youth see themselves in relation to concerns. When statements of non-accountability are given, reflect back what youth are experiencing internally and link it to what they are accountable. YCWs need to train themselves to notice what is right with youth. Wraparound represents a team approach to forming systems of support to help youth and families in the environments in which they live versus out-of-home residential and foster care placements. As with all forms of exception, we do not try to convince youth of their resilience, neither are we implying or suggesting that youth and others just take stock of their qualities and all will be well.
