ABSTRACT

This chapter explains the multiple tools through three sub-pathways for changing actions and interactions. It is clear that tools alone are not enough. It is the ability of YCWs to connect with youth, draw on strengths, and as illustrated in the opening story, change persistent and disruptive patterns that interfere with the visions youth have for themselves. Psychologist Martin Seligman tells a story of how he began his trek into the world of positive psychology, the study of how to build thriving individuals, families, and communities Studies show the benefits of expressing kindness to others. Pair of psychologists has identified a series of cross cultural signature strengths that indicate character qualities and virtues. Once completed, the youth's signature strengths will be listed according to value. Rituals that provide connection help youth who have come from or are in chaotic, disruptive, and potentially detrimental environments to have greater consistency in their lives.
