ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book focuses on the five principles of strengths-based youth care work. It also explains about factors such as personal philosophy and positive deviance, both of which reflect the personal stance of those who have elected to work in YFS. A starting point is to discuss in pairs or as a group, the passion and drive each person has to do their very best as a YCW or other working in YFS. Because YCWs spend much of their time with youth, focusing on day-to-day tasks, deliberate practice has to be planned for and factored into daily activities such as meetings, trainings, and down time, when full attention can be given to practicing. YCWs would be introduced to and practice skills, one at a time, as to how to accommodate the expectations and preferences of youth and others involved such as those outlined as collaboration keys.
