ABSTRACT
37At 4 o’clock in the morning on 27 August 2011, I was standing at a street corner in Chivay, a town with 6500 inhabitants located 3600 metres above sea level in Southern Peru. I was looking forward to seeing the offering rituals to the water springs, and a bit anxious by the prospect of ascending 1000 metres in a steep terrain by foot.
