ABSTRACT
The West African monsoon is characterized by its temporal and spatial unpredictability and variability. The monsoon fluctuates wildly across West Africa and over time “leaving some areas in some years well supplied, yet other regions and other years dry and parched”. 17 The monsoon dynamic is a response to the contrast in temperatures and humidity between the African continent and the tropical Atlantic.
