ABSTRACT
In 2011, the World Bank-funded irrigation modernization programme, PSI, directed by the Peruvian Ministry of Agriculture, started up in Colca Valley. 22 Through educational and financial support, the PSI engineers encourage peasant farmers to change from traditional irrigation methods based on gravity and furrows to modern sprinkler irrigation systems.
