Neighborhood associations and political participation

Neighborhood associations (NHAs) cooperate with local governments in the provision and implementation of policies. However, the relationship is not a oneway street. NHAs also contribute to governance by articulating demands from neighbors to the local government. Moreover, NHAs are engaged in the political process through participation in election campaigns, endorsement of political candidates, and even serving as a recruiting ground for candidates to office in local government assemblies.
