ABSTRACT

For Arcari+Iovino Architects, religious projects comprised their first commissions. In fact it would be hard to design a traditional Roman Catholic Church now. Clients choose architects for very different reasons: budget, aesthetic vision, political and social goals, as well as numerous practical considerations and issues. The clients for the Teaneck Synagogue approached Arcari+Iovino Architects, their goal was to achieve something aesthetically different. Trust is fundamental to addressing the needs of their clients. Working with the entire community is fundamental to the process as well. The community is not just limited to the neighbors or the religious community; it also includes the planning board. It's just good to make good neighbors by introducing them to process and design, because these are sited in developed neighborhoods so how is it integrated with people design vision within the neighborhoods.
