Roman sites in general produce an abundance of finds, particularly pottery, glass, and metalware. Many a museum show-case is crammed with distinctive Roman pottery or metalwork, and the task of showing enough to stimulate visitors' interest without losing the balance within the collections on display a difficult one. Deep in museum basements, there will often be row upon row of boxes containing Roman finds, far too much to put on permanent view, an eloquent testimony to the plentiful finds of this date, and a considerable storage problem for museum staff.
