ABSTRACT

Reaching successfully for objects in the environment is an important “motor milestone” for every infant to accomplish. Typically, the first reaching attempts are made between 3.5 and 5.0 months after birth. These early reaches are often characterized by a zig-zag trajectory, which gives them an uncoordinated and ataxic appearance.
