ABSTRACT
In each of the following examples, various appeals are made to authorities for information. In a paragraph, FIRST identify and discuss those factors that strengthen or weaken this particular appeal to authority. Consult the list of criteria printed in the middle of the chapter as well as those presented elsewhere. Identify and discuss those criteria particularly relevant to the case at hand. Make clear how each factor you discuss increases or decreases the credibility of the use of authority in the case. SECOND, using the scale ranging from “Very likely to be credible” to “Very unlikely to be credible” state what degree of overall credibility the example has.
