ABSTRACT
Even a casual review of the subject matter presented in chapters making up this volume convincingly indicates that in recent years, research in the area of nonverbal communication has made important contributions to our knowledge of human behavior. Eye behavior has also attracted much attention, and the findings reflecting on the importance of visual interaction and eye contact in interpersonal communication are extensively covered in Fehr and Exline's chapter. In this section we examine the behavior of a pupil, a component of what Magnus (1885) called “eye language.”
