The dialectical relationship between theory and practice in higher education

Practice does not occur in a vacuum. It depends on the historical, social, political, economic and ideological context in which it takes place. The practice of learning and teaching in higher education equally depends on the whole educational context. Any attempts to improve learning and teaching must, therefore, take these issues into consideration.
