ABSTRACT

Manual metal arc welding uses both alternating current and direct current. It is also important to remember that controlling 'tilt' angle can be used to our advantage, especially in case of multi-run welds. Use of this classification system is best illustrated. Cellulosic electrode coatings are made of materials containing cellulose, such as wood pulp and flour. Iron powder electrodes get their name from addition of Iron powders to coating which tends to increase efficiency of the electrode. When welding corner joints in horizontal vertical position it becomes more difficult to maintain plate thickness on the corner; achieving this continuity of thickness is important to strength of this joint. When welding other thicknesses, first consider all the points that have been discussed in relation to the joint type, plate thickness, welding position and weld size. Weave patterns possibly unique to this welding position are to weave back towards the top edge of the joint, away from the direction of travel.
