ABSTRACT

An Introduction to System II Movement Diagrams T he movement qualities describ ed in Chapters 5-9 are organized into diagrams similar to those for pre-effort s and effo rts. How eve r, there are some differences. In Sys tem I diagrams, the vitalizing force of the movement patterns describ ed is tension flow.

All movement is based on combinations of bound and free flow and this gives the movement its dynamic quality and some emotional components. Free and bound are associated with pleasure and displeasure respectively. Through attunement to the tension flow pattern of other individuals one can achieve a sense of empathy for them, a feeling of how they feel.
