ABSTRACT
This narrative clearly illustrates several important concepts about domestic violence, primarily batterers' tremendous fear of authorities. We hypothesize that most batterers know that they are committing crimes for which they can be held accountable. It is only the "domestic" part of domestic violence that keeps them out of serious trouble. They do not want to be caught or arrested. When police arrive, the secret of their violence is scarily in danger of being known.
