ABSTRACT

When promoting any group, I have always believed in the motto, "Any press is good press," regardless of whether it includes bad news. Getting media coverage is critical to broadcasting a message. However, early in the process of spreading the word about the RSG, I came face to face with such a dilemma. Pushing for an interview with one of the prominent gay publications in New England, imagine my surprise and subsequent horror when the following headline appeared:

A group nobody wanted to talk about: Being mentally disabled and gay was to admit what was once taboo—the developmentally disabled want sex.
