ABSTRACT

In Part II, we concerned ourselves mainly with the ontogenesis of representation in the vocal-linguistic medium; there we digressed only slightly with regard to pathological or specialized deviations from the normal ontogenetic sequence. In this Part, we examine the handling of the verbal medium in some special states and under special orientations of the symbolizer; that is, we discuss the handling of speech-forms in three primordial ways: (a) where a special physiog nomic attitude is taken towards words (and sentences); (b) where vocal-verbal forms enter into dreams; and (c) where schizophrenics utilize language in a regressed manner.
