ABSTRACT

Change in life is a natural, normal, and desirable process. It establishes progress in the environment. Aging is the process of richness of change in the ongoing transitions of life. The long-established pattern of behaving in a cautious, nondirect manner blocks open, frank communication for men and women. The inability to communicate adequately to others and the confusing transition of aging may be accommodated in various ways. Skills such as communication techniques and assertion training are important tools. Goal setting is a way of accomplishing positive change in one’s life. Goal setting helps people to plan the development of their lives in a desirable direction. Some people have great difficulty in making a decision. The following four steps are useful to make decisions: define the problem, list sensible choices, predict possible end results, and act on and evaluate choices. The Fulcrum Model is another useful method to evaluate a situation or personal problem in order to arrive at a decision.
