ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews promising treatments that may play an important role in the creation of the kind of care that crack patients need if they are to recover from their addiction. Some of these treatment models require further investigation and/or replication, while others lack any systematic outcome evaluation. A few potentially promising approaches have been investigated, with results suggesting the modifications necessary to improve their efficacy. The chapter also recommends modifications that might permit these treatments actually to meet the needs of crack smokers.
