ABSTRACT

At this point, it is important to consider the theoretical rationale for the utilization of cognitive-behavioral interventions. If we appreciate the etiology of crack addiction in conditioning phenomena and in exposure to a social environment saturated with an inexpensive crack product, then certain clinical interventions may arise as logically necessary. More specifically, a rationale for treatment emerges out of an appreciation of principles of operant and classical conditioning and other learning experiences in a social environment.
