ABSTRACT

Depending on the researcher, the definition of feminist research methods can cover a wide range of experiences and philosophies. Using the tool of research, feminists attempt to reveal the power dynamics and discrepancies which harm women and other marginalized groups, for example African Americans, people who live in third world countries, oppressed and exploited groups. Explaining the relationship between the researcher and the work being done is a unique feature of feminist research. Feminist researchers must carefully consider the role they play before proceeding with a study. New feminist research presents both glimpses into the researcher's personal experiences in the field and also the interaction with their informants. Feminist research develops the links between the political and personal in a holistic approach to women's lives. Feminist methodology addresses the "problem of speaking for others" and how that affects one's meaning and truth.
