ABSTRACT

Some students of language learning are interested in studying the development of morphological markings and the concepts underlying those markings. CHAT provides two ways to conduct morphological analysis. Superficial morphological analysis can be conducted by breaking words into morphemes on the main line. This type of morphemicization on the main line is intended mostly for initial morphological analysis. For deeper analysis, particularly in languages other than English, the %mor line should be used instead. In this chapter, we discuss morphological analysis on the main line. For more extensive morphological analysis, you should use the MOR command to produce a %mor line.
