ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a multimedia case-based reasoning system called CASECAD in terms of its architecture, implementation, and user interaction. Memory organization, case representation schemes, indexing and retrieval strategies, and the implementation of the various modules of the system are described in detail. Examples from the domain of building structural systems are used to illustrate various implementation details. The Lisp code from CASECAD is documented in Appendix A, and the structural design cases used in CASECAD are presented in Appendix B.
