ABSTRACT

This chapter describes how a standard English sentence is used as a framework for systematically integrating all the essential information needed for human resource management applications. A task statement should identify the tangible instruments, extensions of self, a worker uses to perform the task, such as Tools, Machines, Equipment, Work Aids. The self, which is, of course, the primary tool, is not mentioned because it is implicit in the subject. A task statement needs to identify in some way the nature of the instructions the worker follows and the sources of information. The behavior is the action the worker is expected to perform on, to, or with the object of behavior. A task statement requires a concrete, explicit action verb. Verbs which point to a process should be avoided. This statement need not be in minute detail because some of this detail is initially obtained at the beginning of a FJA.
