ABSTRACT

It was not possible to identify any specific neurobehavioral correlates of recurring nightmares in our review of the literature. Nevertheless it was evident that recurring nightmares are frequently associated with seizure disorder (Hypothesis 16). The literature also pointed to a definite localization of the seizure foci responsible for this disorder: Recurring nightmares indicate a discharging lesion in the region of the right temporal lobe (Hypothesis 17).
