Scaling is a technique (Berg, 1994; Berg and Miller. 1992; Berg and Reuss, 1998; Cade and O'Hanlon, 1993; Hudson, 1996; Friedman, 1993; Littrell, 1998; McFarland, 1995; Metcalf, 1998; Miller, Hubble, and Duncan, 1996; O'Connell, 1998) that works like this: You ask the client to rate the problem on a scale of one to ten, with one being the absolute worst the problem could be, and with ten the absolute best—so good it's not even a problem anymore.
