ABSTRACT

Normalizing and reframing techniques (Berg, 1994; Cade and O'Hanlon, 1993; Eron and Lund, 1996: Fisch and Schlanger, 1999; Friedman, 1993; Hubble, Dunean, and Miller, 1999; Miller, Hubble, and Dunean, 1996; O'Connell, 1998; White and Epston, 1990) offer clients a different way to look at the same set of concrete circumstances that brought them to treatment. For the hopeless client, successful reframes bring new meaning to these circumstances and build upon the idea that change is indeed possible.
