ABSTRACT
Group treatment for sexually abusive children is intended to be an abuse-specific intervention. Perpetration issues are not adequately addressed when children are seen in less specific group settings, such as social skills groups. It appears that inclusion in a generic “victims” group is more often not helpful for dealing with perpetration issues; in fact, it can actually be harmful. If children (and adults) focus solely on their own victimization, they can successfully avoid dealing with how they victimize others.
