ABSTRACT

The problem addressed by this chapter is the psychological treatment of HIV-positive men and their partners in couples group psychotherapy. HIV and AIDS not only is devastating for the individual infected with the AIDS virus, but the disease also has a profound impact on one's family and friends. In the outpatient AIDS clinic of a large, innercity hospital, a growing number of couples have presented for treatment, and we report on a short-term couples group formed to address this need.
