ABSTRACT

Parents are often concerned about what to do when it comes to disciplining their children. Effective discipline results not only in improved behavior by the children, but also the creation of a warm and stable atmosphere within which children can grow. Effective parenting techniques are, therefore, essential to the creation of a stable family. Currently, “time out” is one of the most frequently used, but not fully understood, parenting techniques. There are many versions of it, many of which are quite effective. I have taught this version to many parents, and it is almost always effective in reducing the frequency and intensity of the targeted behaviors.
