ABSTRACT
Involvement in collective action is a minority pursuit. The great majority of people do not jo in political groups at all, let alone get actively involved. The focus in the present chapter turns to the majority response: Why is it that so many people do not wish to get involved? How can our understanding of this response be informed by social psychological theory?
