ABSTRACT

When Sheila Davis, a relatively well-of woman who has been divorced for two years, does not have enough money in her savings account to cover the year's property taxes, she borrows from her parents and friends. Because she cannot (or does not want to) mow her own lawn or shovel her own driveway, she relies on the assistance of a neighbor. When she faces a scheduling conflict and cannot be there for her children at the end of the school day, Sheila asks one of her friends to drive them to their after-school activities.
