Neoliberalism was not just government policy. It was a constellation of sociocultural patterns and practices that transformed how Argentines imagined themselves and their country and how they interacted socially and politically with each other and the nation itself. It is also important to remember that the first phase of neoliberal reform (1990–96) had broad, albeit not monolithic, public support.
