ABSTRACT
Most of the autos sacramentales presented here in the New World were created in Spain and brought over to Mexico by the Spanish. One of the most beautiful, however, "Las Apariciones de Guadalupe," (The Apparitions of Guadalupe), is the first that was written in the New World. In 1531 the apparition occurred, and by the end of the century, it had been written. I don't know the name of the author, or if he put his name to his work, but (fjate, era pura poesia (I'll tell you, it was pure poetry).
