ABSTRACT
As a writer of Puerto Rican parentage who was born, raised, educated, and is presently living in New Y ark City, one of the first questions asked of me is, "Why don't you write in Spanish?" And this question is asked not only by those persons of non-Hispanic background, but also by the island Puerto Ricans.
