ABSTRACT

Nuevo Laredo, because my papa moved us across the border in 1930 during the Depression when there were no jobs here on this side. My father sold vegetables and my older brothers learned their trades there. One is a barber, one is a baker, another shines shoes. They had steady work and it helped support the family. Later, I worked for several years on the U.S. side of the border again, in Laredo, in a customs house.
