ABSTRACT

Disillusioned by the gross corruption of senior officers in the Nicaraguan air force, Savallos, after two previous abortive attempts, finally arrived in the United States, where he was immediately picked up by the migra and taken to the Bay View Detention Center on the Texas border. There, he met Delio Toro, who fled his native Honduras when the government began cracking down on the human rights group with which he was working. The experiences of Savallos and T oro both speak volumes about the tremendous hardships borne by the people of Nicaragua and Honduras.
