ABSTRACT

The avid fascination in our culture with psychopathy is undeniable. Novels and movies about killers, rapists, and shrewd and ruthless law-breakers spin to the top of the charts; headlines about such events hold us rapt. We cannot ignore the immensity of the psychic energy in all this. It is our responsibility to try to understand the psychological dynamics which are involved in our cultural fascination with psychopathic personalities, as well as the dynamics which lie behind our individual attraction to and/or repulsion from these controversial but intensely energetic individuals.
