ABSTRACT
Most men in the modern world work, if they can get jobs, and so do an increasing proportion of women. In Britain 70% of women do paid work, making up 48% of the labour force; in Europe and the USA rather fewer women work (Warr, 1999). So work is an important part of life; how much do people enjoy it? First, how do we measure job satisfaction?
