ABSTRACT
The years between the conclusion of the first Pannonian war in 89 and the eruption of the second in 92 are not greatly illuminated by the sources. Domitian was consul for the fifteenth time in 90; he did not hold the consulship in 89 or 91. His colleagues are not without interest. M.Cocceius Nerva was consul with the Emperor in 90, and in 91 the year opened with M' Acilius Glabrio and M. Ulpius Trajanus as consuls. The year 90 produced a bumper crop of eleven suffect consuls, probably in order to relieve a blockage in promotions, as Syme said, but rewards for loyalty in 89 are not out of the question.!
