ABSTRACT

Throughout this book Burrell and Morgan's (1979) four paradigm analysis and framework has been used as a meta-theoretical map and therefore, in effect, as a conceptual framework for integration of different and differing approaches to mental health promotion (MHP). In the spirit of critical reflection and in response to the postmodernist movement, this paradigm analysis is itself subjected to reflexive scrutiny. Dis-integrative and deconstructionist views of mental health are offered and some future directions for community mental health promotion (CMHP) are noted.
