This chapter explores how organizational culture influences innovation, the six building blocks of an innovative culture, the guiding force of culture and culture's relationship to a firm's core ideology. It also examines the role of culture as driving force for progress, the role of culture to empower innovation as a force for change and eight culture types: command and control, results-oriented, bureaucratic, creative, adaptable, team-oriented, institutional, and innovative. Culture building is important because it can have a powerful influence on whether innovation is multiplied or diminished. Workplace culture in organizations can be understood as the way workers view and describe their work environments. Culture is a set of group-specific behaviors in a team or organizational setting that guide behavior and decision making. While people have seen the importance of behaviors, thinking, problem solving, knowledge, and creativity in innovation and entrepreneurship thus far, they now turn their attention to the challenge of building a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
