ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the world of systems and ecosystems and how nature informs our approach to systems thinking, and ultimately an innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. It also focuses on adoption chain risk and co-innovation risk. The chapter discusses Adner's value blueprint, leadership prism, and innovator execution challenge matrix in the context of an innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. The value proposition for a good and/or service is the promise to deliver on the real and/or perceived benefits to the customer. Adner encompasses this in the value blueprint, a visual representation of how the ecosystem interacts in order to fulfill the value proposition. Each part of multipart ecosystem is organized into a map of successor and predecessor relationships that depict the dependencies. Finally, people outlined the ecosystem continuum and a model of the greater Cincinnati innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem with its promise, as a systematic approach, to promote and support innovation and entrepreneurship and economic development.
