ABSTRACT
Jason [jā′son] Son of Aeson; rightful king of Iolcus. He was brought up in exile, however, since the kingship had been usurped by his step father Pelias. When Jason came to claim it, Pelias tried to dispose of him by sending him in quest of the Golden Fleece, a treasure that was kept in Colchis, the realm of King Aeetes, and guarded by a serpent.
