ABSTRACT
The framework of the dynamics of economic spaces in the global knowledge-based information society can be examined through the role of firms as actors in economic spaces. This chapter explores how a global firm interacts with economic spaces relative to innovation systems, contrasting spatial processes, and evolving the dynamic features of economic spaces introduced in Chapter 2. Samsung has been selected as a case study to examine the dynamics of economic spaces based on the role of firms. Through the evolution of Samsung in the context of firm and space over time, we attempt to consider the framework of the dynamics of economic spaces. We can also consider the notions of service innovation and path dependence discussed in Chapters 3 and 4 in the analysis of the restructuring and innovation of Samsung.
